KONG COLOR SKETCHES

Using shots from the previous post I began to work Kong into a color sketch to be used as a guide for the cover painting to 2004’s KONG: KING OF SKULL ISLAND. The first attempt was too plain, even allowing for all of the text that needed to be included so I expanded it into the version seen here with additional elements to convey more of the story. I left a white area at the bottom of the composition, but later decided it better to fill that in the final version as shown. I wasn’t sure of how I wanted to paint the eyes and left them blank to be filled in later. Sketches are all in oils on illustration, about 5”x7” +/-.
